The Fiji Islands are located in the South Pacific, and are not Polynesian; they are Melanesian. Fiji, like the rest of Melanesia, is dirt poor and practiced cannibalism up until very recently.
The first few days in Fiji it rained non-stop. We all began to look like this lady with frustration at the South Seas weather.
