Alice Springs is a small town in the geographic centre of Australia made famous by Neville's book "A Town Like Alice"
that takes place in post WWII Australia. It hosts the yearly Henley-On-Todd regatta which is a series of boat races down the dry riverbed of the Todd river Flintstone-style (with the feet of the guys in the boats sticking out the bottom and powering the vessels)
After leaving the Kakadu s the heavens really opened up
